Linglong Tire supports the climate match day at VfL Wolfsburg as an official climate team partner

Wolfsburg, September 14, 2023 - Together for the climate: Anyone who travels by bus, train, bike or carpool to VfL Wolfsburg's home game against Union Berlin or to the Wolfsburg game against Bayer Leverkusen (ladies Bundesliga) next weekend and registers on the ummadum mobility platform is not going easy just the climate, but also receives a 10% discount voucher for the VfL Wolfsburg fan shop and can also win valuable prizes, including VIP tickets, a cargo bike or a weekend in a Volkswagen ID. There will also be a matchday mile with interesting exhibitors and a large mobility survey to measure how much CO2 has actually been saved.

The climate match day is supported by Linglong Tire, Team Climate Partner at VfL Wolfsburg. Together with other partners, climate protection measures are being implemented to keep global warming below the critical limit of 1.5 degrees. With the Linglong Sport Master e, a UHP tire specially developed for electric vehicles, which is characterized by very low rolling resistance, high mileage and a quiet rolling noise, Linglong is also making a contribution to reducing CO2 emissions when driving to the stadium. The Sport Master e can now be ordered in numerous sizes from 18 – 21 inches, with additional sizes coming soon. In the medium term, Linglong plans to offer tailor-made tires for electric vehicles in all product segments, i.e. summer and winter tires as well as all season tires for cars, SUVs and vans.

After joining the Sports For Climate Action alliance, VfL Wolfsburg became the first football club in Europe's top leagues to support the United Nations' Race To Zero since 2020. With this clear commitment, the association would like to motivate people and institutions around the world to actively work towards climate protection. The Volkswagen Arena uses energy for floodlights and lighting as well as air conditioning. Water is needed in large quantities for sanitary facilities and for watering the lawn. When 30,000 fans eat and drink in the stadiums during the game, mountains of waste are created. Every time fans, journalists and carers travel to a home game by motorized transport, an average of nine kilograms of CO2 per person is produced by fans, journalists and carers, and with 30,000 spectators a total of 270 tons of CO2 per match day. VfL Wolfsburg's goal is to become an even greener club step by step in order to reduce the impact on the environment. The goals of Race To Zero are ambitious: by 2025, all greenhouse gas emissions, regardless of whether they are caused directly or indirectly by VfL Wolfsburg, should be reduced to net zero - and the climate match day next weekend will help with that!
